Bug Fixes
Split URL tests keep the visitor's assignment across subdomain redirects
- On split URL tests that redirect between subdomains of the same site (for example,
www.toshop.), some browsers, notably Safari, could lose the visitor's test assignment during the redirect. The visitor saw the variation but was not counted, which could skew traffic splits (Sample Ratio Mismatch). The assignment now also travels in the redirect URL and is removed from the address bar on arrival. Your own URL parameters, such as UTM tags, are left untouched.
Visitors move to the winner after a test finishes
- When a finished test kept a winner, visitors who had been in a losing variation kept seeing it. They now see the winning variation, and their earlier conversions are carried over without being counted twice. Winners that are a Split URL page, are configured with a redirect, whose code calls
convert.redirect()orconvert.refresh(), or that have 0% traffic are skipped, and those visitors see the page unchanged. A winner that navigates some other way in its own code, such as by settinglocation.href, is not detected and is applied. Analytics follow the move, except on projects using "track first exposure only": there, a visitor already recorded against the losing variation keeps reporting that variation to your analytics tool.
Visitors see the original page after a finished test with no winner
- When a finished test kept no winner, visitors who saw it while it ran kept seeing its changes. They now see the unmodified page.
